Ferdamat – our onboard food offering

In our kiosks you’ll find real "Ferdamat" – simple, tasty food that makes your journey a little nicer and your break a little better. Take the time to enjoy a freshly made svele, a cup of coffee, or choose from a selection of hot and cold dishes.

Serving on board

Our self-service kiosks are open 24 hours a day, whilst the staffed kiosks have opening hours that vary depending on the season and the route. Whenever you travel, you can count on finding something tasty to eat.

Self-service kiosk – simple and accessible

On many of the ferries, you’ll find self-service kiosks with a good selection of simple meals, snacks, sweets and hot and cold drinks. Here you can shop quickly and easily, whenever it suits you – whether you need a cup of coffee, a bite to eat or a little sweet treat to break up the day.

Staffed kiosk – more choice and fresh treats

On selected routes, we welcome you to a staffed kiosk with a wider and fresher food selection. Here you can choose from hot and cold dishes, fresh baguettes, ice cream, snacks – and of course our popular pancakes and waffles.

Opening hours vary depending on the season and traffic, but whichever route you’re travelling on, you’ll be greeted with a smile, a treat and something to drink.

The original Fjord1 svele – a fjord classic

Our sveler (Norwegian pancakes) have become part of the travel experience along the coast. Many people say the journey isn’t the same without this traditional treat – freshly made on the griddle, served with buttercream or brown cheese, and enjoyed with a view of fjords and mountains.

Did you know...
In 2025, we sold around 469,000 sveler?

Recipe for Fjord1 svele – Norway’s best pancake!

Now you can bring a taste of Fjord1 home and make the same svele served to thousands of travellers along the coast.

Svela, which became part of coastal culture

Fjord1 veteran and ship’s captain Karstein Holm tells the story of the Svela – the coast’s most beloved icon since 1971.

How a svele brings joy and comfort

The Fjord1 svele has made its way to a nursing home kitchen in northern Sweden. There, it has become more than just food – it brings joy, togetherness and meaningful moments, even towards the end of life.

A birthday tradition with Fjord1

For many people, a birthday means cake and candles. For this family, the celebration centres on our time-honoured recipe, a warm roast turkey and the smell of freshly baked "sveler" (Norwegian pancake).
