Fjord1 uses cameras at ferry terminals and on board its ferries to ensure safe, efficient and smooth operations. The cameras are used for automatic traffic control and queue management, passenger and crew safety, as well as operational monitoring and incident documentation.
On some routes, such as Sykkylven–Magerholm and Lavik–Oppedal, there are several cameras both onshore and on board.
Cameras used for automatic traffic control are primarily aimed at vehicles and traffic patterns, and are intended to help ensure better flow, manage boarding and reduce waiting times.
Cameras on board are located in selected areas such as the car deck, communal areas and the kiosk. Cameras in the kiosk are used to ensure safe operations and prevent undesirable incidents.
